Small acts

This week was busier than usual as I am wrapping up my flight training, getting other classes in order for next semester and balancing work as well. Although I wasn't able to fit in an organizational service to participate in this week, I found that more opportunities to serve others have presented its self solely because I have been shifting my focus recently. To start more of the miniscule work I have done on the daily have been really simple and started in my home. I've been reaching out more helping around the house with more chores, helping my little brother with school work, overall being more intentional with how I can do my part and help out. I also had the opportunity this week to help out a stranger at the gas station. An elderly couple were at the gas station trying to get home but had lost their debit card so I offered to pitch in for their gas. It may seem like a small thing, but I hope that I had brightened their day and lightened a small burden. These acts may seem so simple and unimpactful, but often I think the smallest things can have the biggest impact on people. I think what is most important for me is to really be intentional and not just do these things for the sake of this assignment. I do think that implementing this practice of service will make such an impact on my wellbeing, and the wellbeing of others. Next week I want to set a goal to hopefully find an organization I can help with consistently for the next few weeks and develop a schedule that is balanced with the other aspects of my life. I think that once I start at an organization it will be must easier to document my progress and provide photos of what I am doing. With this change also I think I will be able to better see how I have changed, especially how what my sense of purpose has changed.
